In this class, your project will be to paint a complete snowy mountain landscape using gouache, step by step. We won’t jump straight into the final painting. First, we’ll do a short practice study where you’ll learn how to observe a mountain, understand its light and shadow, and build texture in a controlled way. This helps remove the pressure of getting everything perfect and gives you confidence before starting the final artwork. Once you’re comfortable with the process, we’ll move on to the final painting and slowly build it together - beginning with the sketch and sky, then blocking light and shadow, adding texture, and finishing with subtle highlights. You can download both the practice reference image and the final project reference image from the resources section of this class. Materials you’ll need Gouache paints (white, blue, burnt umber, and black are essential) Flat & Round Brushes Watercolour or mixed media paper Water container and tissue or cloth Pencil and eraser Masking Tape Mixing Palette You don’t need expensive supplies - just something you’re comfortable working with. When you finish your painting, please upload it in the Projects & Resources section of the class. You can also share your practice study if you’d like as it’s always helpful to see your process, not just the final result.
